If you look closely, you may have noticed that Joe Rogan’s hands appear to look strange and unusually discolored. What happened to them?
Joe Rogan has vitiligo, an autoimmune disorder that impacts his hands and feet. His hands exhibit varying shades of color due to vitiligo, which results in the loss of skin pigment. Importantly, this condition is neither harmful to Rogan nor contagious to others. He attributes the Carnivore Diet as something that anecdotally improved his condition.
Rogan has experimented with different kinds of treatment for vitiligo, including healthy diets, exercise, supplements and the carnivore diet. The latter being one of the most helpful remedies that he has tried.
Joe Rogan Has Vitiligo In His Hands and Feet
Vitiligo is a non-painful, but permanent skin disorder that is influenced by a person’s genetics. So it’s likely that Rogan got the condition from his family tree. While Rogan’s vitiligo is clearly noticeable if you’re looking at his hands, it is often much more noticeable in people of African decent – like Michael Jackson.
Rogan’s autoimmune disease condition happens when the body attacks itself and kills melanocytes, the cells that produce melanin, or better yet – the color component of the skin.
According to the Mayo Clinic, treatment options are very limited and treatment doesn’t make it go away 100%. The best option may be to use a cosmetic make-up or cream if someone desires to make it look less noticeable.
Rogan doesn’t seem like the kind of guy that would use make-up to hide his vitiligo. Instead, he has looked at other treatments, one being the carnivore diet.
The Carnivore Diet Helped Joe Rogan’s Vitiligo
Rogan had learned about the carnivore diet from his podcast guest, Jordan Peterson who was trying the diet and had reported positive feedback. The diet had also helped Peterson’s daughter, Mikhaila, with the auto-immune disease of rheumatoid arthritis. She came on the JRE podcast in episode #1164.

On the JRE podcast, Rogan reported that the carnivore diet did, in fact, help clear up his vitiligo.
Rogan reported that on the carnivore diet he lost fat, including his belly fat and love handles. Overall, for the first 30 days, he was fairly impressed but was not sure if he was going to continue the diet.
He then said that it ultimately improved his Vitiligo condition, wherein he had a “bunch of spots filled in”, and all of it happened in just one month. “It was tremendously beneficial,” he said.
On his podcast #1424 with Tom Papa, Rogan also said: “This month I’ve had the best results I’ve ever had with Vitiligo…This month I’ve had all these spots fill in at a pretty rapid rate.”

Rogan’s Vitiligo is Not Contagious
UFC fighters and JRE podcast guests do not need to worry about “catching” vitiligo from Joe Rogan’s hands, despite how his skin might appear. However, since vitiligo can be hereditary, the only people that could possibly get vitiligo from Rogan would be hiss children, passed through his genetics.
Speaking for all Joe Rogan fans, we are grateful for him, and relieved to know that the vitiligo in his hands is not harmful to him or others.
