Theo Von has seen a meteoric rise to fame over the last 5 years because of his funny and unique personality, combined with a humongous amount of content that he produces in the form of stand-up comedy, podcasting, and TV shows.

Theodor Capitani von Kurnatowski, known as Theo Von, is an American stand-up comedian and podcast host of This Past Weekend and The King and The Sting. Raised in Covington, Louisiana, Von first became popular for his appearances in MTV’s Road Rules and later, on Joe Rogan’s JRE Podcast and First We Feast’s Hot Ones.

Theo Von on Joe Rogan’s JRE Podcast

Von has appeared on Joe Rogan’s JRE podcast in episodes #925, #1118, #1141, #1225, #1731, #1847, and #1994, and is one of the best podcast guests on the show. Von once said that being on Rogan’s podcast was like hanging out with his older brothers, with Rogan being about 13 years older.

Von looks up to Rogan in several ways. Rogan has paved a pathway to success that many other stand-up comedians have followed.

Along with doing stand-up, other comedians like Von have gotten into the podcasting business, building an online audience, and are capitalizing on ad revenue from podcasting, YouTube videos, and affiliate sales – leading to a lot more money.

Theo Von’s Podcast – This Past Weekend

Theo Von is the host of This Past Weekend podcast which he hosts by himself. Formerly he hosted The King and The Sting podcast with Brendan Schaub, although Von left the show and Schaub rebranded the podcast.

On This Past Weekend, Von told guest Jimmy John Liautaud, the founder of Jimmy John’s sandwich chain, that he wanted to get into podcasting after appearing on Joe Rogan’s JRE podcast.

Von was amazed at Rogan’s setup and wondered to himself if he could do something like that. He decided to try it out by buying a camera and microphone, starting from scratch. He launched This Past Weekend in December of 2016.

This Past Weekend has been a huge success and routinely gets over 500,000 views on YouTube and is also available on Apple iTunes. On the show, Von has had other comedian superstars like Bobby Lee, Bill Burr, Joey Diaz, Bryan Callen, and Andrew Santino.

On Your Mom’s House podcast, Von told Tom Segura and Christina Pazsitzky that he didn’t always have a mullet, but that he wanted to see what he’d look like with long hair. After growing it out for a while, he decided he liked it and wanted to roll with it.

Von felt like his haircut accurately represents the area and people where he comes from in Louisiana, people who often get looked down upon in pop culture.
